Openly Gay Mayor Demoted to a Secretary -- Coincidence??

America has been a whirlwind of change, headwinds, progress and more lately.  The most recent election saw the appointment of a women of color elected to the second highest office in the land.  We also saw numerous candidates of color and women becoming more represented.  This year, an openly gay mayor also ran for President of the United States.

And while Mayor Pete didn’t win the Democratic nomination, it seems pretty cruel for the administration to demote him to a secretary, a job historically, albeit stereotypically, held for women, even a title long abandoned in exchange for administrative assistant.  He could have gone on to do great things, and I don’t think this is the last we’ll see of the well-spoken former candidate.  But, to imagine him painting his nails, answering the phone and taking short-hand seems downright cruel!
